Case Study

A SaaS technology company with novel algorithm seeking go to market advice

Need: A novel algorithm for deconvoluting the composition and relative mix of important life science molecules had been developed. The client company sought advice as to the technology’s suitability in multiple markets, inclusive of initial constructs for go to market strategies.

Approach: Sprout Healthcare advisor supported development of multiple KOL panels who were given broad information on algorithm’s capabilities and questioned on product suitability in multiple fields. As an example, Sprout advisor used relationships within state and federal government to seek feedback on perceived competitive products, contemplated product’s suitability and likely pricing.

Results: The results of the engagement identified market suitability in one sector, and found no suitability in others. In the one application, while the product was desired by potential customers the pricing sensitivity indicated too low of a ROI to justify a new business arm for the software technology company. Sprout member advised that the algorithm was likely best licensed to an existing market player. The engagement helped the client to avoid loss of capital and management resources.
